Study Objectives

Determining the community's compliance with the recommended preventive measures of SARS-CoV-2 (including the closure of schools and universities and implementation of virtual education programs, quarantine, social distancing, prohibition of business activities, restriction of inter-provincial traffic, personal hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment)

Summary

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) or COVID-19 originated from Wuhan, China in the late 2019 and has been extended to all countries of the world. Due to the unknown nature of the virus and its pathogenesis, today, it is not possible to control the disease by performing treatment measures, and if preventive measures are not taken to control the infection, the disease will spread more rapidly. According to the findings of studies, non-pharmacological preventive interventions have a significant effect on controlling and reducing the incidence of SARS-CoV-2. However, these preventive measures can be effective when people in the community complied with them. The study population includes people over the age of 18 years living in Shahroud County, Iran. The sample size is at least 700 people. The sampling method is stratified systematic-random sampling in which the required number of samples in different districts of Shahroud County is determined proportional to the population. The link of the questionnaire in cyberspace will be send to the residents based on the postal code of each area through SMS panel.

How the results will be used: The results of this study will provide useful information on the degree of community' compliance with the recommended measures to prevent SARS-CoV-2, and will identify low-compliance groups that can be the targeted for the government's interventions to increase their compliance and in order to control the disease in the community as a whole.
