Introduction to the Nursing Program

Nursing is an independent discipline and a major field within the health sciences and medical sciences. Nursing graduates serve as integral members of the healthcare team and contribute to a wide range of healthcare services, including health promotion, preventive care, patient care, education, research, counseling, management, supportive care, treatment, and rehabilitation.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is the first professional academic degree in nursing. Its curriculum is developed based on scientific principles, the health needs of the community, and Islamic values. Undergraduate nursing education aims to prepare professional general nurses who are capable of assessing and identifying health needs, planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care, and coordinating care for individuals, families, and communities across diverse healthcare settings.

Mission

The mission of undergraduate nursing education is to prepare knowledgeable, committed, competent, and efficient nursing professionals who, through the acquisition of professional competencies and the application of current scientific knowledge, are capable of providing safe, effective, equitable, and cost-effective health, nursing, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services in accordance with the highest professional standards.

The fulfillment of this mission is achieved through effective education, comprehensive clinical training, the conduct and application of relevant research, advancement of nursing knowledge, development of professional competencies, and adherence to professional ethics and human, cultural, and Islamic values.

Vision

Over the next ten years, the nursing education program aims to prepare graduates who are able to keep pace with scientific, technological, and healthcare developments and who receive education in accordance with national, regional, and international standards.

Graduates of the program will establish and strengthen their professional roles across diverse healthcare settings and at all levels of prevention. They will be equipped to assume appropriate professional responsibilities within the healthcare system and to contribute effectively to improving population health and the quality of life of patients and clients through the provision of safe, effective, high-quality, and cost-effective care.

Furthermore, competent nursing graduates are expected to achieve a strong and distinguished presence in scientific and professional fields at national, regional, and international levels.

Overall Aim

The overall aim of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is to prepare graduates who are capable of functioning as effective members of the healthcare team and providing comprehensive nursing, health, educational, research, counseling, managerial, supportive, and rehabilitative services, in accordance with professional ethical principles and with the ultimate goal of maintaining, promoting, and improving the health of individuals, families, and communities.
