The foundation of this major regional healthcare nexus, initially known as Fatemieh Hospital, was established in 1975 through the extraordinary philanthropic vision of the late benefactor, Mrs. Seyedeh Zahra Aghayan. This act of generosity provided Shahroud and its surrounding areas with a vital medical facility that has served the community faithfully for nearly five decades.

The commitment to modernizing and expanding patient care reached a new zenith in 2016 with the official inauguration of the state-of-the-art, adjacent structure—the Bahar Hospital. This milestone event was marked by the presence of the nation’s highest health authority at the time, Dr. Ghazizadeh Hashemi, Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education. Strategically situated next to the original Fatemieh building, Bahar Hospital represents a major leap in regional healthcare infrastructure. It spans a vast land area of 14,000 square meters, encompassing four structurally advanced floors and offering an impressive 24,000 square meters of total operational infrastructure.

Operating under the direct academic and administrative mandate of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences, the combined complex is engineered to deliver the highest tier of patient services. With a total bed capacity of 360 beds, it specializes in acute, specialized, and sub-specialized medical disciplines. Crucially, the institution seamlessly integrates clinical service delivery with its academic mandate. It functions as a dynamic teaching hospital, actively engaging medical and paramedical students in rigorous clinical rotations and providing them with hands-on exposure.
