Increase in Academic Debate Sessions to Engage the Younger Generation
SHAHROUD, Iran – April 11, 2026 (09:34 local time) – Dr. Emamian, President of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences, announced during the 149th joint meeting of the “Fariḍatayn Committee” and the Public Culture Council of Shahroud County that the university plans to expand the number of academic debate forums aimed at better informing and engaging the younger generation.
The meeting was attended by Hojjatoleslam Abbas Amini, Friday Prayer Leader of Shahroud, Asafari, the Deputy Governor and Special Governor of Shahroud, along with several local officials.
Referring to the situation during recent regional tensions, Dr. Emamian highlighted that medical staff “were fully mobilized” and worked at full capacity. He stated that expanding platforms for free academic discourse is among the university’s key programs for strengthening public understanding.
Addressing the influx of Nowruz travelers to Shahroud, he reported that more than 8,000 individuals were treated in the city’s medical centers, 2,000 were hospitalized, and over 400 surgeries were performed. Including outpatient visits across various areas of the county, a total of over 210,000 people received medical services.
He added that fewer than 10 patients required transfer to other facilities, which he said reflects effective planning and stable access to medication and healthcare services.
Dr. Emamian emphasized the importance of continued efforts to ensure smooth service delivery and called on media outlets to help highlight these achievements more widely.
