Brain-Dead Patient Donates Organs, Giving Life to Multiple Recipients in Iran

Shahroud, Iran – May 16, 2026 – A brain-dead patient at Imam Hossein Educational, Research, and Treatment Center of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences has given the gift of life to several fellow citizens, leaving a lasting legacy.

Fatemeh Biki, a 59-year-old resident of Shahroud, was declared brain-dead. With the consent of her family, her organs were donated to several patients in need, providing them a second chance at life.

Following the confirmation of brain death and family approval, Biki was transferred to Tehran, where a surgical team successfully retrieved her organs for transplantation. The donated organs were then transplanted to multiple patients awaiting life-saving procedures.

This year, 1405 in the Iranian calendar, marks the second case in which a brain-dead patient’s family has consented to organ donation, offering life to others. Authorities and medical staff honored the memory of all individuals whose selfless organ donations have saved multiple lives, sending prayers and respect to their noble souls.
