Participation of the International Affairs Office of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences in the First National Conference on New Horizons in International Scientific Activities of Universities

The International Affairs Office of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences participated in the First National Conference on “New Horizons in International Scientific Activities of Universities, Educational, Research, and Technology Institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” hosted by the University of Tehran on June 15–16, 2026.

The conference was organized to examine opportunities, challenges, and practical solutions for the development of international scientific activities in Iranian universities and research institutions, as well as to strengthen the scientific diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, ambassadors of neighboring countries, representatives of executive organizations, and directors and experts in international affairs from universities, educational, research, and technology institutions across the country.

Throughout the conference, participants discussed important topics including the internationalization of higher education, recruitment and support of international students, expansion of scientific and technological cooperation, engagement with Iranian scholars abroad, enhancement of the international standing of Iranian universities, and effective utilization of regional and global capacities.

In addition, five specialized sessions were held during the conference, where scholars, policymakers, and higher education administrators examined strategies for expanding international academic cooperation, addressing the challenges of internationalization, improving the quality of educational and research services, and strengthening the role of universities in scientific diplomacy.

The participation of the International Affairs Office of Shahroud University of Medical Sciences in this conference provided a valuable opportunity for exchanging experiences, becoming familiar with emerging policies and approaches in the field of international affairs, and expanding collaborative networks with universities and scientific institutions across the country. This participation was in line with the University's strategic plans to strengthen academic and educational interactions at both regional and international levels.
