Occupational Health (B.Sc.)

The Bachelor of Occupational Health is a four-year undergraduate program offered by the School of Public Health at Shahroud University of Medical Sciences. The program prepares professionals who are dedicated to protecting and promoting the health, safety, and well-being of workers by identifying, evaluating, and controlling occupational hazards in various work environments.

The curriculum combines medical sciences, environmental sciences, engineering principles, and occupational safety to provide students with comprehensive knowledge in industrial hygiene, occupational diseases, ergonomics, toxicology, occupational epidemiology, workplace risk assessment, safety management systems, environmental monitoring, and occupational health legislation. Students also develop professional skills in hazard identification, exposure assessment, accident prevention, and workplace health promotion.

Practical training plays a significant role in the educational program. Students complete supervised field placements in industries, occupational health centers, healthcare facilities, and workplaces affiliated with the University. Through these experiences, they gain hands-on skills in workplace inspections, environmental and biological monitoring, occupational risk assessment, health surveillance, safety evaluation, and implementation of preventive strategies to create healthier and safer working environments.

Graduates are qualified to work in industrial companies, healthcare organizations, governmental regulatory agencies, occupational health centers, environmental consulting firms, research institutes, and other organizations responsible for workplace health and safety. They may also continue their education through postgraduate studies and research in occupational health, industrial hygiene, environmental health, and related fields.
