Collaboration with Non-resident Iranian Elites

Shahroud University of Medical Sciences (SHMU)

Shahroud University of Medical Sciences (SHMU) recognizes the invaluable role of highly skilled Iranian academics, researchers, and clinicians residing abroad—our Non-resident Iranian Elites—in advancing national scientific goals and enhancing international outreach. SHMU is dedicated to establishing robust and sustainable frameworks to leverage the expertise, networks, and resources of these esteemed scholars.

This commitment aligns with the national imperative to create synergistic relationships that bridge the academic gap between the country’s institutions and the global scientific community where Iranian talent resides.

Program Objectives:

To utilize the specialized knowledge and international experience of non-resident elites to enrich academic programs and research capacity at SHMU.

To foster collaborative research projects that yield high-impact outcomes suitable for international publication.

To strengthen international academic ties by leveraging the professional networks of collaborating elites.

To facilitate mentorship and knowledge transfer to SHMU faculty and postgraduate students.

To encourage virtual and physical participation in SHMU’s academic and scientific events.

Modes of Collaboration:

SHMU encourages collaboration through various flexible modalities tailored to the availability and preference of the elite experts:

Virtual Research Collaboration: Joint supervision of PhD/M.Sc. theses, participation in virtual advisory boards, and co-authoring scientific papers.

Short-Term Visits (Visiting Scholar/Expert): Hosting for short-term lectures, specialized workshops, or clinical training sessions (often covered under the Visiting Professor Program structure).

Remote Consultation and Curriculum Development: Providing expert opinions on research protocols, institutional development, and the review/enhancement of academic curricula.

Joint Grant Applications: Collaboration on international funding proposals leveraging the elite’s connections in host countries.

Webinars and Online Teaching: Delivery of specialized courses or lectures to SHMU students and faculty via live virtual platforms.

Administrative Facilitation:

The Office of Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs is the primary liaison for all collaborations involving Non-resident Iranian Elites. This office ensures:
