Advancing Health Across the Lifespan: Research in Sexual and Reproductive Well-being

Welcome to the Sexual and Reproductive Health Research Center (SRHRC) at Shahroud University of Medical Sciences (SHMU). Our center is dedicated to comprehensive, evidence-based research focused on optimizing sexual health and ensuring successful reproductive outcomes across the entire lifespan, from adolescence through post-menopause. We address critical public health needs through rigorous clinical, epidemiological, and basic science investigations.

Our Mission:

The SRHRC’s mission is to generate high-quality scientific evidence that informs clinical practice, public policy, and health education regarding sexual function, fertility, contraception, pregnancy care, and sexually transmitted infections, ensuring equitable access to high-standard reproductive healthcare.

Key Areas of Focus:

Our research spans several interconnected disciplines essential to sexual and reproductive well-being:

Maternal and Perinatal Health: Investigating the causes and prevention of adverse pregnancy outcomes, optimizing prenatal and postnatal care models, and improving maternal morbidity and mortality rates.

Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART): Conducting studies on the etiology of male and female infertility and evaluating the efficacy and safety of established and emerging ART methods.

Adolescent and Young Adult Sexual Health: Researching the determinants of healthy sexual development, risk behaviors, and the provision of accessible, confidential sexual health services for young populations.

Reproductive Endocrinology and Genetics: Exploring the hormonal control of reproductive function and investigating the genetic basis of reproductive disorders and congenital anomalies.

Opportunities for International Students & Collaborators:

The SRHRC offers a stimulating environment for international scholars passionate about sexual and reproductive health issues, which are vital to global development goals.

Community-Based Research: Opportunities to engage in fieldwork and community intervention studies to understand cultural and socio-economic barriers to reproductive care.

Clinical Exposure: Collaboration with specialized clinics providing fertility services, high-risk obstetrics, and gynecological care.

Policy Impact: Contribute to research that directly influences national guidelines and health programs related to family planning and reproductive rights.

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Research Center (SRHRC) is committed to empowering individuals and communities through knowledge and innovation in reproductive care.
