In line with its vision to promote academic excellence and international engagement, Shahroud University of Medical Sciences (SHMU) has developed a Visiting Professor Program to strengthen global cooperation in medical education, healthcare, and research.

As a dynamic and growing academic institution in northeastern Iran, SHMU recognizes the vital importance of international collaboration in building a more integrated scientific community. Through this program, SHMU invites distinguished professors, researchers, and clinicians from around the world to share their expertise and collaborate with faculty, students, and research centers within the university.


Program Objectives:

To foster academic exchange and enhance global scientific partnerships.

To facilitate joint research projects addressing national and international health priorities.

To enrich the educational environment through international teaching experiences.

To build sustainable networks of cooperation with leading medical and research institutions worldwide.


Activities of Visiting Professors:

Visiting Professors at SHMU may engage in diverse academic and clinical activities, including:

Conducting lectures, workshops, or specialized training courses.

Participating in research collaborations and co-authoring scientific publications.

Supervising postgraduate students or mentoring early-career researchers.

Engaging in clinical teaching, consultation, and patient care training.

Contributing to the development of new academic and research programs.

Taking part in symposiums, conferences, and academic events organized by SHMU.


Eligibility and Duration:

The Visiting Professor Program is open to academics, clinicians, and researchers affiliated with recognized universities, hospitals, or research institutions across the world.

The tenure of appointment may vary from a few weeks to one academic year, depending on the nature of collaboration and mutual agreement with the host department at SHMU.


Support and Facilitation:

SHMU provides comprehensive support for visiting faculty members, including assistance with visa arrangements, accommodation, office and research facilities, and administrative coordination throughout their stay.


How to Apply:

Interested applicants or partner institutions are invited to submit an expression of interest or nomination to the Office of Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs at SHMU, including the following documents:

Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)

A brief proposal of activities during the visit

Letter of support or recommendation from the home institution (if applicable)

Proposed dates and duration of the visit

Applications are reviewed collaboratively by the relevant department and the Office of International Affairs.
