Driving Innovation in Public Health Through Behavioral Insight
Welcome to the center for Health Related Social and Behavioral Science Research (CHSBSR) at Shahroud University of Medical Sciences (SHMU). Our center is dedicated to exploring the complex interplay between human behavior, social factors, and health outcomes. We believe that lasting improvements in public health and patient care begin with a deep understanding of the individual and community dynamics that influence well-being.
Our Mission:
The CHSBSR’s mission is to conduct high-quality, impactful research that translates into effective interventions, educational programs, and policy changes. We strive to address pressing health challenges, from chronic disease management and mental health promotion to environmental health concerns, all through the lens of social and behavioral science.
Key Areas of Focus:
Our multidisciplinary teams—comprised of epidemiologists, psychologists, sociologists, public health specialists, and medical professionals—focus on several critical areas:
Health Behavior Change: Developing and testing strategies to encourage healthy habits, improve nutrition, increase physical activity, and reduce risk behaviors (e.g., smoking cessation, addiction prevention).
Social Determinants of Health: Investigating how socioeconomic status, education, culture, and community environment shape health disparities and access to care.
Mental and Psychosocial Health: Researching the burden of mental health issues, reducing stigma, and promoting resilience across diverse populations.
Health Systems and Policy: Evaluating the social impact of current health policies and designing behavioral frameworks for better healthcare delivery.
Opportunities for International Students:
The CHSBSR offers a dynamic and collaborative environment perfect for international researchers and students seeking advanced studies (MSc and PhD) or research collaborations.
Participate in Cutting-Edge Projects: Join projects focusing on global health issues relevant to both regional and international contexts.
Access to Expert Mentorship: Work alongside leading researchers in the field who are committed to publishing high-impact studies.
Gain Field Experience: Engage in community-based research and intervention studies that provide invaluable practical experience.
Join us at the CHSBSR to be part of the solution in creating healthier communities through insightful behavioral and social research.
